👋 Howdy! I'm Jon, Creative Director at ClassDojo based in rainy 🌧️ Portland. Prev Work is Play, Clockwise, and Zapier. Big fan of emojis. 🥳

Novo

Novo is a financial platform for small businesses, offering banking features and AI-powered bookkeeping. Despite a brand refresh, their site lacked engagement and clarity. Partnering with →Dawn and →Work Is Play, we redesigned 10 pages, created 50+ illustrations, and built a mini design system in 7 weeks.

Lineage

Lineage is a boutique consultancy turning brands into cultural icons with over 20 years of experience. They came to Work is Play to craft a site that signals a major shift from agency to methodology. Partnering with Dawn, we built a complete design system, 4 interactive Next.js + WebGL pages, and 40+ CMS templates.

Prism

Clockwise reinvented scheduling with Prism, an AI-powered calendar you talk with. Need to clear your day or meet the CEO? Just ask. Over 2 months we launched an ambitious campaign including a 3D animated video with our friends at →Yatta, and a slew of marketing surfaces: social, paid media, email, 4 pages, blog posts and in-product flows.

Clockwise Rebrand

Clockwise grew from a Chrome extension into a must-have productivity tool—but the brand was stuck in the past. I led a full identity refresh: a scalable identity, 40+ redesigned pages, 20+ product surfaces—all in 3 months. The result? A brand as seamless and intuitive as the product itself.

Growlers

Friend projects are the best projects. That's why I was thrilled to help my friend Mickey — Coach Mickey — build up a identity for Chill N Fill's softball team. With →Lael Tyler and →Linh Triu, and inspired by the bar's growler-fill roots, we created Juggy the mascot, an anthropomorphic jug ready for catch.

Zapier

At Zapier, I built the brand design team from 0 to 1, creating scalable design systems across email, social, and web while driving brand advocacy and education. Highlights include collaborating with Instrument on a rebrand, partnering with Hobbes on a motion toolkit, and leading an in-house rebrand that later aligned with the official launch.

Scheduling Links

Group scheduling is a nightmare—group emails, Doodle polls, and so much back and forth. But Clockwise Links makes it effortless. We teamed up with →Third Coast Films to produce 15, 30, and 60-second paid media spots, handling everything from scriptwriting to remote art direction. Fast, scrappy, and no wasted motion—just like the product itself.

Friends

Jon is an extremely talented visual thinker and designer. He is fast, focused and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously while moving them forward and meeting client objectives. Jon's positive attitude and energy were a real asset to our small studio dynamic. He is a thoughtful, generous person, and a very gifted designer and problem solver.

Lael Tyler

Creative Director, Cast Iron Coding

Jon has a knack for creating visual stories that stand out—a talent worth its weight in gold. He's always one to offer a fresh perspective, to challenge the status quo, and to riff on ideas big & small. In short: everything he touches packs the right amount of punch (and has a hint of sparkle). He's an amazing collaborator and curious problem solver, always looking to find the right balance between a variety of needs. We've been so lucky to have him on the team at Clockwise and his impact will last for a very long time.

Kacy Boone

VP of Marketing, Clockwise

Jon loves design and he really stays on top of industry trends and tech possibilities. He's got great enthusiasm for ideas, and is very methodical in the way he approaches design, creating helpful and organized systems that make things easier for everyone on the team. He's also an all-around nice guy, which is always a treat.

Kate McCagg

Head of Brand Innovation Lab, Amazon

I've had the pleasure of working alongside Jon for over a year. Jon is consistently curious which is a necessity in product development. This combined with a methodical approach and desire to delight customers pushes our team to develop better solutions. He's always willing to learn and is a force for collaboration on the team. His passion for the details shows up in the quality of his work.
